Christian Meditation at St Mary's Church

About Our Group

Our meditation group at St Mary's Church meets each Friday evening from 6pm to 7.10pm for a time of reflection and meditation. During this time we will meditate twice for 20 minutes, as well as listen to a short recorded talk, and do a short walking meditation inside the church.

We are a friendly, welcoming group with people from all sorts of backgrounds and faith traditions. We also like to occasionally enjoy Erskineville's fine cuisine by sharing a meal together after we meditate.

What Is Christian Meditation?

Christian Meditation is a practice that is open to people of all beliefs. Originally practiced by the Desert Fathers and Mothers in the 4th Century AD, the practice was largely lost during following the dark ages and was recently re-discovered in the late 20th Century by Benedictine Monk Fr John Main.

The Christian Meditation community is now a worldwide movement with thousands of groups meeting up on a weekly basis. We would love for you to join us and find out more.

Where: St Mary's Church, 26 Swanson Street, Erskineville
